St. John Medical Center is dedicated to raising awareness and providing necessary prevention of the United States’ number one killer. The Healthy Artery Program is a free cardiovascular screening program focused on preventative medicine and education. This program is available to anyone who wishes to assess their potential risk for cardiovascular disease.
A personal evaluation and assessment for risk of heart and blood vessel disease includes an Ankle-Brachial Index. An Ankle-Brachial Index is a simple test that measures and compares the blood pressure in your legs to the blood pressure in your arms to detect artery blockages in the legs called Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD). Your past heart and vessel medical history is also reviewed to identify other problems that may increase your risk for other cardiovascular complications. An individualized plan for appropriate evaluation and treatment will be made based on your results.
Early diagnosis and treatment of PAD can help prevent disability and restore mobility, stop the disease from progressing, and lower your risk for heart attack, heart disease, and stroke.
PAD often goes undiagnosed because of lack of symptoms. Scheduling your appointment today could possibly save your life!
