Occupational Therapy helps to restore function with activities of daily living, from getting in and out of the shower, to the ability to write a check. The Occupational Therapy Program at St. John Medical Center is designed to restore optimum functional living to the client through rehabilitation. Various therapeutic techniques and interventions are utilized to help patients regain their maximum level of independence. Our therapist will carefully assess each patient's functional status and design an individualized treatment plan.
The Occupational Therapy Staff includes a certified hand therapist, a certified work conditioning evaluator and a certified Lymphedema specialist. These are specialized credentials that are not found in every clinic.

Inpatient Balance Assessments
Each patient identified with balance deficits at SJMC is evaluated with specific outcome measures and trained for balance awareness until discharged from the hospital. Patients that continue to be at risk or have balance deficits are refererd to Balance Specialists.
Outpatient Balance Specialist
Each Therapist working in the outpatient Balance Center has taken coursework to hone the skills required to specialize in this cutting edge service line. We utilize our state-of-the-art NueroCom equipment for patients who demonstrate certain balance deficiencies.
Each patient is put through a battery of evidence based outcome measures and tested for balance deficiency to determine a plan of care that is specific to the needs of each client.
