Westlake, Ohio: Now celebrating its 15th anniversary, the annual St. John Medical Center (SJMC) Festival of the Arts is one of the premier fine arts and fine crafts shows in Northeastern Ohio. More than 30,000 are expected to attend the 3-day event. This year festival-goers will need to reserve the following dates and times (open to the public hours): Friday, July 13 from 6 - 9 pm; Saturday, July 14 from 10 am – 7 pm and Sunday, July 15, from 10 am – 5 pm.
Each year, the weekend is kicked off with a Patron Benefit that serves as the Hospital’s major fundraiser. This year on Friday, July 13, from 6 – 10 pm, partygoers are invited to attend an evening surrounding a nautical theme, as “Smooth Sailing” is the course set. The sails have been hoisted and Patrons will be transported on a high seas adventure boasting a captain’s table banquet feast, and a chance to win a dream cruise for two. On deck, partygoers will also enjoy the sounds of Rick & Sharona: A Swingin’ Affair with Route 66. Those planning to attend are asked to keep a weather eye open for clear skies and favorable conditions as St. John Medical Center’s 2007 Patron Benefit sets sail for a memorable night for all aboard. Tickets are $100 per person; and $125 for collector status that includes a mention in event program. Serving as the 2007 Festival of the Arts’ Patron Benefit Chairpersons are Ardis Radak, Patrick Garmone, Eileen Hayes and Carol Sterba.
In between courses, Patrons will also have the opportunity to be among the first to view the works of more than 200 artists and craftpersons who will be displaying and selling one-of-a-kind artistic treasures. Artists from all over the United States who make furniture, baskets, jewelry, and clothing --- to name only a few of the items---compete to be included.
Patron Benefit net proceeds will go toward the St. John Medical Center Community Outreach and Wellness Ministry programs. With a primary focus on “preventative health care,” the Community Outreach & Wellness Ministry programs offer the community such services as parenting and babysitting classes, health talks and screenings, support groups and an immunization clinic. These services are available to the community at little or no cost. This year funds have also been earmarked for the Hospital’s Breast Health Initiative. Whether a patient is healthy or has been diagnosed with a breast abnormality or breast cancer, through the Breast Health initiative she can receive the resources and education needed to promote and maintain breast health.
St. John Medical Center is located at 29000 Center Ridge Road in Westlake, Ohio. For 2007 Patron Benefit ticket information, please call 440.827.5474 or 440.827.5148
